Humans-elephants conflicts

  On the 18th of April, a representative of BAK had a meeting with some of the responsibles of the International Fund for Animal Welfare organisation (IFAW-EU). At this meeting, the problem of conservation of the elephants of Katanga came up.
IFAW-EU committed itself to support BAK. In a few days, actions will be led in the field to try and smooth out humans-elephants conflicts by supporting rural populations.
One of BAK's team is present in the field to evaluate damages.
With the help of international specialists, BAK is elaborating other solutions to protect the villagers. BAK is trying to conciliate protection of goods and of people with conservation of the last elephants of Katanga who are an essential asset for the revival of tourism of the province.
