Zoology
Call :  
     
Description :   Large, dark plumage, breast and belly mottled with black, barred tail and a crest on the head. Underwings are rufous with white primaries and secondaries barred with black. 
     
Habitat :   In Katanga this forest bird is only seen in highly arboreus southern savannahs and around Kapanga at the limit of the primary forest.  
     
Behaviour :   True killer. Its prey are sometimes double its weight. Attacks mammals (monkeys, antelopes) who represent almost the totality of its diet.

Life history :   The youg is raised for almost a year, therefore reproducces only every two years, which is exceptional in the birds' world. Some of them are known to have lived for 16 years.
