Description :   Characterised by a thin grey eye-strip and light rufous underparts. Upperparst are grey.  
     
Habitat :   Dry savannas. Found in the east and in the south of Katanga.  
     
Behaviour :   Where it cohabits with its cousin S. ruficapilla, it lives in smaller trees. Climbs up and down tree trunks like nuthatches.

Life history :   Nidification takes place during the rainy season from September to February.
