Description :   This francolin is distinguished by the red legs, bill, bare skin on the throat and around the eyes.  
     
Habitat :   Very common in Katanga, its repeated call is heard during the day.  
     
Behaviour :    
     
Diet :   Feeds mainly on seeds and insects.  
     
Life history :   Eggs are particularly tough and resistant to brutal shocks.

Interactions with humans :   Often visits fields where it eats seeds and insects.

Legends, believes, folklore :   In the Tshokwe divinatory basket is found the francolin's leg. Illnesses that start suddenly are assimilated to this fearful bird that takes off at the slightest noise.  
     
Fishing, hunting :   The sport hunting of this bird is ideally done with a dog. Villagers usually snare hunt. 
     
Feeding :   Its meat is consumed.
