Description :   Very large ginger owl Eyes are black. When alarmed, this bird can fluff up its head feathers giving it a huge appearance.  
     
Habitat :   Quite rare in Katanga. Can be seen in large rivers' gallery forests where debit is slow.

Diet :   mainly fish and amphibians.  
     
Life history :   Nidification takes place during the dry season when waters are low and clear.
