Call :  
     
Description :   Length: 9 cm; wingspan: 28 cm; forearm: 4 cm. Ears are long and rounded (2,2 cm long). Pelage is sepia brown above and grey below. Wings and ears are dark brown. A split runs down the length of the face. Wings are relatively short and wide. Long tail bifurcated at the tip.  
     
Habitat :   Woodland. 
     
Behaviour :   Nycteris hipsida lives singly or in small colonies. Roosts in holes in rocks or under bushes. Slow but agile flier. 
     
Diet :   Insects and other invertebrates.
